ABOUT
PENHA SCO is a production and artistic diffusion cooperative based in a former 450m² textile factory in Penha de França, Lisbon. The headquarters has 6 workshops, a 100m2 gallery, a black-box for rehearsals and presentations and a common area consisting of a kitchen and exhibition space, photographic laboratory, workshop and terrace. Throughout 2019 and 2020, we offer a large number of people, free of charge or through conscious collaboration, access to more than 100 events - exhibitions, performances, projections, concerts, courses and seminars - that have programmed an agenda
quarterly, with thematic cycles of "open curatorship".
Since its conception, the PENHA SCO is supported by a fixed team of cooperators and seeks to generate meetings through art and all its layers of expansion, with dialogues and debates on issues that devastate our times and the people who structure the space: friends, partners and visitors.
Each trimester they occur, in the different spaces of PENHA SCO, residencies, creation cycles,
meetings, exhibitions, performances, projections and concerts that fill our agenda with the cycles of "open curatorship".
These cycles work in the following way: after a choice among themes, a program is set up based on projects proposed by the cooperators, developed by people we believe in; from this new proposals arise from the public and from artists, producers and other people around us and, if there is dialogue with the issues present in the pre-defined theme, they are incorporated into the agenda of the trimester (so "open curatorship").
